James Compo has been training financial services professionals since 2013. He combines a deep understanding of the banking environment with broad L&D expertise. He joined from the Citi L&D team which supported the Private Bank and its Global Wealth parent. During his tenure at Citi, he facilitated at all levels, delivering a range of managerial, sales and commercial skills courses. Before moving to L&D, James spent five years in commercial banking at Citi and Bank of America, covering both the HNW and family office segments.
At Templar, he focuses on programs around interpersonal communications, leadership, client-facing relationships, and career development, having co-designed the early careers curriculum.
His works regularly with Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, HSBC, Oaktree, Credit Agricole, MetLife, and Citadel.
An honors graduate from Lander University with a BA in History and Spanish, James is also credentialed as a Master Performance Consultant through the Association for Talent Development.
Before finance, he played professional baseball across North America. The sport’s disciplines of leadership, teamwork, communication, and inclusivity are directly relevant to his clients now.
In addition to his native English, he is fluent in Spanish.
